Ancient Israel Pendant - Sheshuah Name Of Jesus
NAME OF JESUS YESHUA
Hoshea, better known as Hoshea son of Nun, was the Israelite from the tribe of Ephraim chosen to spy out the land along with eleven other spies, according to Numbers chapter 13. His name comes from the root meaning salvation. In the same chapter, before he departed on his risky mission, Moses changed Hoshea's name to Yehoshua (Joshua). While the change seems significant in English, in Hebrew all Moses did was add a letter, the Yud, the smallest of all the Hebrew letters, to his name. Despite being the smallest Hebrew letter, adding it to Hoshea's name changed its meaning.
And so, from simply meaning “salvation,” it came to mean “the salvation of Jehovah” or “Jehovah saves.” Moses knew, prophetically, that Hosea would need Jehovah to undertake this dangerous mission; and later, to conquer the Land of Israel along with the rest of the people.
